Scarves are coming

New scarves are on the way. I used up almost al the felt pieces I made from sweaters last year. Now I'm on the prowl for more sweaters to felt. I found a few on Friday which I've already felted and I'm in the process of cutting. Next weekend I expect to get a lot more at one of my favorite rummage sale of all time.
I'm still doing the button scarves, but I also have an idea for a similar style with a button, but more of a flare at the ends rather than a bulb.
Here are some in the works:

I was going to take an after picture of the sweaters when they're shrunk up. They pretty much looks like a little kids sweater, but I couldn't wait and I just started cutting.

And just because he's so cute: A special delivery for you.

Halloween-ish

Halloween is fun and all. Who doesn't like a reason to dress up and act silly. Myself, I'm thinking of getting myself a beehive and cute 50s dress and entering into the costume contest at my workplace where we are encouraged to dress up. But at the same time, I like accessories that can move from holiday to holiday through a whole season. So I made these pins that because of the color scheme clearly lend themselves to Halloween. But I think they really work beyond the confines of Halloween and that's a good thing. (Who am I Martha Stewart?)

Plus, the candy-corny ones were a great reason to use some of the vintage buttons I've got. Lots of unique shapes in black. And I got to name one Spaced Invader. Sometimes naming my pieces are hard, but sometimes it's just so fun and easy.

Too much?

Sorry about the lack of posts in the past week. I'm just finding out that I have a lot coming up for Bake Sale Designs and it stresses me out a bit and I feel like I have to spend time sewing. And then other things come up and there's most stress to be had!
What's in the works?
November 11 I'll be at the Handmade Arcade in Pittsburgh.

Come say hi if you're in the area. It's the first show kicking off the holiday show schedule.

Then I've got three Baltimore shows:
November 18th Holly Fest at the Friends School
November 25th Bazaart at the American Visionary Art Museum
December 9th SquidFires' Peculiar Craft Fair

Plus, while I won't physically be in Rhode Island for Craftland my good will be! That shop is open all of December.

Whew. Think I've got enough going on? I'm excited about doing so many local shows. Not having to drive long distances to go to shows is a bonus of course, but I'm also interested in building up more visibility in my own city.

The Lone Pumpkin White Chocolate Chip Muffin

A friend of mine gave me a recipe for pumpkin white chocolate chip cookies and I thought they might make good muffins, so I gave it a try. I might add some dried cranberries next time for some zing. But they are yummy! Like many pumpkin recipes the muffins get better the next day. I was going to take a pretty picture of a pile of muffins but after George took some to work, I took some to work and then we ate a bunch there's just one muffin left. It makes for a sad little muffin, don't you think? Poor little thing. Someone should put it out of its misery.

Pumpkin White Chocolate Chip Muffins
1 14oz. can pumpkin
2 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. baking powder
2 cups sugar
1 cup canola oil or vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 cups sifted flour
1 12 oz. bag white chocolate chips

1) Combine eggs, sugar, and oil. Add pumpkin, milk and vanilla; beat well.
2) Sift flour, baking soda, powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to the pumpkin mixture. Fold in chips.
3) Scoop batter into 12 muffin cups or a muffin pan (greased and floured)
4) Bake at 375° for about 25 minutes

Friday fun in Baltimore

Doubledutch Boutique and Atomic Pop are having a dual first Friday event (that's this Friday) since they're neighbors. Atomic Pop is an offshoot of Atomic Books, with more of a focus on toys and fun stuff. As always Doubledutch will have music going and some food to snack on while browsing through their adorable stock of women's clothing and accessories. I consign some of my products there and it is dangerous to go into drop things off because I always see so many things I want! But another good reason to go on Friday is you get 10% off each purchase. So if you're free around 6:30 I suggest you head to Hampden. But that's just me.

In other news, I need some advice. My 10 year high school reunion is coming up in a few weeks. I didn't even know about it until about a week ago. I don't think I'm going to go. One, they're charging a fortune just to go. Two, it's a drive up to my parents place and I'd have to stay overnight (that'll eat up crafting time before the holiday rush!) Three, I would never subject George to that and he doesn't want to go, but both of my friends who are planning on going are bringing their boyfriend/husband respectively. They're really the only people I want to see anyway, but I won't even get to hog them to myself.
I didn't like high school, don't miss it. I don't want to see anyone except for my two friend going--they're pretty much the only people keep in touch with at all. So am I going to regret it if I don't go? My dad's with me on this one--torture city. Why pay for that?

New Stuff in the Shop!

If you haven't visited the Bake Sale Designs shop in awhile, I have updated with a few new bags, a new design I call the zipper pouch, and some pins.

As you can see I've been using a lot of the insect/buggy fabric. But that's all there is! So get them while the getting is good.

Plus, the Maryland SPCA online auction "Shop-a-paw-looza" has officially begun. I donated two pins to the cause ( I got both my darling kitties from the SPCA.) Both pins are one of a kind and one is my absolute favorite. You can check out the auction here.

The Birthday Blog Contest Winner!

Holding contests is fun and drawing a winner is the best. Congratulations to Abigail M. in New Hampshire for being chosen at random to win the $50 worth of Bake Sale Designs goodies up for grabs. Her blog entry is here.
Thanks to all who participated! If you didn't get an email, please let me know, because I let you all in on a little special something just for playing along.
